Reflection Statement:
  • The sculptures visually communicate the idea of rot and time.
  • While exploring ways to build the sculptures, I wanted to focus on patches of paper seemingly gluing everything together to fit what I feel is Gregor's room.
  • I decided to include a clock, representation of Gregor, because his time was cut short and he was a working man.
  • I felt the work was not producing the results I wanted while doing the cutting and folding process to attach pieces of furniture, so I went with using paper mache (clumped paper and water) to attach everything together.
  • I want to keep exploring ways to use paper in sculptures.
  • I want to learn more about ways to represent themes and ideas.
  • The piece allowed me to explore the restrictions of materials and how much you can achieve with it.
  • The making of this work exposed new ideas in a clearer way, like paper mache.
