Reflection Statement:
I designed the box and objects to visually convey life, and more specifically, the preservation of nature. For the box, I wanted to create a asymmetrical crack surrounded by gold edges to represent the healing process of life while also adding a plant-like structure poking through the gap, bringing viewers further into the piece. As a viewer opens the box, we see a dirt colored area underneath with pieces blocking in the 3 objects to convey hardship to preserve life. The 3 objects then represent what we are trying to preserve, starting from nature, then to humans with an urban environment, all preserved in food-like containers to represent preservation more clearly and the idea of doing all we can to save earth.

Notes:
The movie the box is inspired by is Wall-e and the theme of preservation.
For the box, I wanted to make it seem like a combination between homemade and natural, using natural tones and textured structures to emphasize the theme of earth. After finding the containers, I created dioramas that would fit into them, all crafted with paper, cardboard, and string to fit the mood of each diorama. At the end of the project, I realized how interesting it was to make dioramas and hope to make more creations like this one in the future.
